Ich war weiß und glatt
Ich machte alles heiß und platt
Die Kinder nannten mich Silberling
Ich bekam große Ohren und Hände
Da wurde ich alt und schwarz
Die Kinder fürchteten sich und
Sie nannten mich Sonderling
Da bekam ich ein weißes Gesicht
Und braune Augen
Die Kinder spielten mit mir
Und nannten mich Wunderling
Sono stato un ferro da stiro
Ero bianco, ero liscio
Rendevo tutto caldo, piatto
I bimbi mi chiamavano Silberling
Ho avuto orecchie e mani grandi
Poi sono stato vecchio e nero
I bimbi mi temevano
M’han chiamato Sonderling
Poi mi è venuta una faccia bianca
E gli occhi marroni
I bimbi hanno giocato con me
M’han chiamato Wunderling.
J’ai été un fer à repasser
J’étais blanc et lisse
Je rendais tout plat et chaud
Les enfants m’appelaient Silberling
J’ai eu de grandes oreilles et de grandes mains
Puis j’ai été vieux et noir
Les enfants me craignaient
Ils m’ont appelé Sonderling
J’ai eu ensuite un visage blanc
Et des yeux marron
Les enfants ont joué avec moi
Et ils m’ont appelé Wunderling
